Laurent Bécot Ruiz started as a photographer 10 years ago, thriving to capture organic and inorganic life in its movement and beauty.

Paintings arrived slowly but surely in his life, as an obvious extension of his art, something natural. He needed to change the rhythm, to slow down, to move away from a fast urban life, to take distance from the 1/1000 second of photography. Only by slowing down could he take the time to prepare the colors, create melts, or patiently paint one by one marks on big white sheets.

He paints, led by his intuition, clearing his mind and expelling agitation, ultimately creating pieces of art inviting to breath, to connect oneself to the infinite, to be at peace. After many experiences with colors, he now works with natural pigments.

Nature is his school and his first inspiration, like a shaman, he takes time to connect himself to Earth, Space, to trees and stars, to fire and animals.
